Chanting the Buddha
Aim of this retreat is to give people an opportunity to have a brief introduction to Pure Land Buddhism and meditation practice with emphasis upon the practice of chanting the Buddha Name.
This retreat is a very spiritual and reflective time in meditation and gentle chanting.
 
31st March -  4th April (This is Qing Ming Festival and will include chanting at Ch’an Yuan Temple Pagoda at Tian Mu Shan)
 
Mindfulness Skills Week End
This is a continuation of the very popular Mindfulness Skills retreat where participants have an opportunity to learn the art and benefits of mindfulness practice in their daily life so as to live life more fully in spite of the many struggles that life often throws at us. It is an excellent foundation for building further meditation and psychological skills upon.

Meditation with the Masters (NEW)
This series of retreats in 2012 will invite Buddhist meditation Masters to teach at Guang Jue Temple.  Many skilful meditation teachers have not taught publically until now when the Venerable Zheng Rong along with the Retreat Facilitator, Malcolm Hunt, have invited masters to teach again.  China has developed a rich culture in Buddhist Meditation. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn meditation skills passed on through the centuries in China.

Personal Healing Week End: T’ai Shen Method (NEW)
Many people come to Buddhism to find healing from a range of issues from psychological and relational challenges, to physical ailments. All conditions arise within the mind.  Many people have come to Guang Jue Temple for personal healing and attained excellent results. The Personal Healing Week End introduces the T’ai Shen Method of Five Foundations of Healing based upon Buddhist and Taoist principles that when applied can have very positive outcomes. The week end is purely an introduction but a great way to incorporate a new way of living into your life.

Pure Land Buddhist Learning Program (NEW)
This is a first for Guang Jue Temple for 2012. The learning program is a week-long introduction to Pure Land Buddhism.  The course is designed for those who are interested in becoming Buddhist and deepening their commitment to practice. At the end of the course there is the opportunity to take the Three Refuges Ceremony.
 
The course will cover basic Buddhist doctrine, the Three Pure Land Sutras, the history of Chinese Buddhism, simple mantras and Pure Land Chanting.  The course will help strengthen your daily practice and provide a foundation for further learning. A Certificate of Attainment will be given to all participants.  The Course is taught by the Venerable Zheng Rong, Dharma Master of Guang Jue Temple and Zhi Sheng Shifu (Malcolm Hunt) teacher in Buddhism and psychotherapist.
 
March 5th  -  11th (Includes the week end retreat The Chant of Compassion and Mercy)
 
Meditation Retreat
This has been a very popular retreat at Guang Jue Temple. It is a week end retreat offering the opportunity to learn meditation within a Pure Land Buddhist tradition. Participants will learn basic breathing techniques, concentration skills, mindfulness as well as meditation in movement (Qigong).  It is a great opportunity to get out of the big cities and find tranquility and a new way of living.

April 31st—May3rd (This is a 4 day retreat during the China May Day Public Holiday)
 
The Chant of Compassion and Mercy (NEW)
This is a special week end retreat focusing on Kuan Yin, the Bodhisattva of Compassion and Mercy one of China’s most well known divine sages venerated by Taoists, Buddhists and ordinary folk.  The Bodhisattva of Compassion and Mercy plays a special role in Pure Land Buddhism uniting Buddhists from all schools. The week end will comprise of meditation and chanting as well as a lecture in Chinese by the Venerable Zheng Rong and interpreted in English on Sunday 11th March, the day in the Buddhist calendar that celebrates Kuan Yin’s  birthday.
