T'ai Shen Centre for Mindfulness, Happiness and Healing - Happiness, Mindfulness and Mental Wellness in Pure Land Buddhism
Staying at Guang Jue Temple offers a wonderful opportunity to experience personal healing.

People have come to Guang Jue Temple from many nations to find healing from wide ranging issues including

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Personal Struggles
  • Life Direction
  • Chronic illness

In Buddhism we are studying ourselves and the inner nature of our minds.  Buddhism teaches us how to live life, integrate our minds and keep ourselves peaceful and happy.

All illness has its origins in the mind.  Our thoughts create actions and our actions have natural outcomes.  Negative actions and thoughts have negative outcomes and affect the subtle body.  These effects are then at some time experienced in the outer body as pain or sickness.

When our minds are calm we are able to begin to resolve the negative Karma in the subtle body and bring healing to the outer body.

Our bodies and minds are interdependent. We are a total interdependent system in conjunction with our entire environment and nature. We do not live in isolation.  This is expressed in the Principal of the Five Foundations ie Spirit, Mind, Relationship, Consumption and Movement.  These Five govern our entire life.  When one of these foundations is weak we will experience disharmony.  When the Five Foundations are in balance we begin to experience almost immediate well-being.

“Chinese Buddhism has a rich history or relationship with Taoism and Chinese medical arts and Confucianism. The Five Foundations evolve from this relationship. They are what I call the Five Guidelines to happiness and well-being.  They are simple but they are powerful.” Zhi Sheng

Personal Guided Retreats at Guang Jue Temple enables you to learn a new way of life.

The Daily Program

The day begins early in the misty morning with tranquil chanting and meditation. After a simple breakfast Qigong is practiced to restore balance and vital energy. During the day participants will typically spend either group or individual time with Master Zhi Sheng for healing work then have time for personal practice.  Work around the temple provides practical earthy experience in cleaning sweeping and other chores.

The Tai Shen Method developed by Master Zhi Sheng is interwoven throughout the entire day and rapidly restores health and inner harmony.
The evening concludes with Naikan meditation and brief chanting.

Traditional Chinese Medicine

Chinese Buddhism has had a long association with Traditional Chinese Healing Arts in China. Dr Cao Fang Yuen of the Fu Yuan hospital is a highly regarded, compassionate and energetic doctor from a lineage of Traditional Chinese Medical doctors in his family. Dr Yuen provides treatment in herbal medicine, Acupuncture and Tui Na (Massage).  This is a wonderful opportunity to experience the efficacy of Traditional Chinese Medicine in harmony with meditation and Dharma.

Going Home

Before leaving Guang Jue Temple participants receive their own personal program to follow up once they have returned home as peace, harmony and healing is a life-long practice.

Recently the Venerable Master Zheng Rong observed: “People come here sick are touched by the Buddha Dharma and return well. The Medicine Buddha has smiled.”
